President Tebboune declares February 22 national day of fraternity, people-Army cohesion for democracy flash

ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, marking the first anniversary of the Hirak popular movement, has declared February 22 a “national day of fraternity and cohesion between the people and the Army for democracy,” the presidency of the Republic said in a statement.

“According to the decree signed by the president, and as announced in his meeting with the representatives of the press, to be TV broadcasted on Thursday, the day of February 22nd commemorates the historic massive popular demonstrations of the Algerian people on 22 February 2019,” the statement said.

The day “will be celebrated throughout the country with demonstrations and activities boosting brotherhood and national cohesion and reinforce the spirit of solidarity between the people and its Army for democracy.”
