- The visa office may request additional documents more than what is listed in our website. 10- Submitting all the required documentation does not guarantee the issuance of a visa. In case your visa application was not approved, visa office is not required to provide the reasons.
How can I apply for visa at the Consulate General in New York?
Applicants can either;
A- Come to the Consulate and apply in person;
B- By proxy, the representative must show a notarized letter, by which the applicant authorizes him/her to apply on his/her behalf;
C- Through a visa services agency.
Applications can be dropped off at the Consulate General from Tuesday to Friday during our working hours 9 am to 3 pm. These four business days are the same days of passports pick up.
D- Applicants can also mail their applications directly to the Consulate General of Algeria, 15 E 47th Street, New York, 10017. We request applicants to take into consideration the time needed for shipping and handling. Applicants must include a prepaid self-addressed return envelope to be used for mailing back their passports.
Very important:
The Consulate General will not be responsible, in any way, of any LOSS or DELAY caused by shipping carriers. In this regard, visa office reminds applicants of the following:
- Prepaid return envelopes MUST be certified mail with tracking number.
- Name of applicant MUST appear as the SENDER and RECEIVER of the mail on the air bill.
- We do not recommend FedEx and UPS since they do not collect mail. If you prefer to send your package via FedEx or UPS, please plan to schedule a pickup after you receive a call or email informing you that your visa has been issued. Otherwise your package will not be sent.
How can I pay the fee?
- We accept only USPS money order payable to the Consulate General of Algeria in New York. Applications with non-USPS money orders will not be processed.
- Money order is NOT refundable, whether the visa application is approved or not.
Please write your name on the money order before you submit your application.
- All other nationals must check with the Visa Section for the applicable requirements and fees.
- Rush fees are not applicable.
