Consular services fees, also referred to as “Tarification des prestations consulaires” are fees charged by consulates general for various services. These fees are designed to cover the costs associated with processing documents, providing assistance, and maintaining consular facilities. The fees vary based on the type of service required, such as visa issuance, passport services, or notarial services. Understanding the fee structure for consular services is crucial for individuals seeking assistance from their consulate while living or traveling abroad.

The Consulate General only accepts payments by USPS MONEY ORDERS in the exact amount of the service requested. All money orders must be made payable to the “Consulate-General of Algeria” and must include the name and address of the client. Each service requires a separate money order. Cash, personal or company checks, certified checks, bank or personal money orders, and credit or debit card payments are not accepted.

NEW RULES FOR MONEY ORDERS: In compliance with an order from the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States, the Consulate will only accept money orders that contain the bearer’s name and address, as shown in the sample below. The “memo” field on the left must be filled with the name of the service being requested (e.g., visa, legalization). This rule also applies to services submitted by mail or through visa services and expeditors. Money orders that do not meet these requirements will be returned with the submitted documents, and the service will not be processed.
