President Tebboune chairs ceremony naming Army headquarters after late Gaid Salah

ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces and minister of the National Defence, chaired Tuesday a ceremony for the naming of the headquarters of the People’s National Army after the late mujaheed, Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaid Salah.

The initiative comes in recognition of the huge efforts made by the late Gaid Salah during the glorious national liberation war (1954-1962) within the National Liberation Army and his contribution, after independence, to the construction of the People’s National Army.

The ceremony was planned as part of a visit paid by the president of the Republic to the headquarters of the ministry of National Defence.

Upon his arrival in the headquarters of the National Defence ministry,President Tebboune was greeted by General-Major Said Chanegriha, the acting chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, accompanied by the secretary general of the ministry of National Defence.

After the execution of the national anthem, military honours were given to the president of the Republic by units of the People’s National Army.

The president of the Republic afterward greeted the commanders of the Army Forces, the Republican Guard and the National Gendarmerie.

He also greeted the commander of the 1st military region, the comptroller- general of the People’s National Army, the heads of National Defence ministry’s departments and the Army staff.”
