Visit of the Minister of National Solidarity,

Family and the Status of Women

H.E.Ms Ghania EDDALIA, Algeria’s Minister of National Solidarity, Family and the Status of Women, paid a visit to the Consulate General headquarters on Saturday 17th, 2018, where she was welcomed by the Consul General Ms. Sabria BOUKADOUM and member of her staff. Ms. EDDALIA greeted our compatriots who were present at the time of her visit, among them Dr. Azedine MEDHKOUR, Associate Professor, Surgery Division of Neurosurgery, Northwest Ohio and active member of Algerians associations in the US (Algerian American Scientists Association and Algerian American Foundation of Culture-AASA, Education, Science and technology –AAF.CEST).

Ms. EDDALIA was leading the Algerian delegation to the 62nd Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 62)which included representatives of Algerian ministerial departments and deputies among them Mrs. Nadia LAABIDI, Former Minister of Culture and Member of Parliament.

In her speech to the UN session held in New York from March 11 to 17, 2018, Ms. EDDALIA, underlined Algeria’s constant commitment to the UN resolutions providing for the promotion of women’s rights and the establishment of adequate legal and regulatory frameworks that allow them contribute to the achievement of SDGs by 2030.

She also took this opportunity to highlight the efforts made by the Algerian government to promote women and to attribute her key role in the national development process.

In her turn, Ms LABIDI, visited the Consulate General Headquarters and held discussions with compatriots among them Mr. Omar Bouchaar, General Manager at WYNDHAM GARDEN BROOKLYN SUNSET PARK and active member of our community who was honored, this year, by the Assembly State of New York for his outstanding work.
