Algeria’s Days in New York May 4-5,2018 came to a close on Saturday May 5, 2018. It was an unprecedented and successful event aimed to share the Algerian rich and diverse cultural heritage with the American public and international community. These days were kicked off on Friday May 4, 2018 with a gastronomic lunch and a handicrafts exhibition at the UN headquarters followed in the evening by a Maluf-Andalus concert at the ECOSOC Room.
The second day, at the Brooklyn Borough Hall, took the large American and Algerian attendees into a unique cultural and touristic journey to enjoy Algerian music, art, cuisine and natural beauty. It was also an occasion to honor M. Eric L. ADAMS, President of the Brooklyn Borough for his constant availability and commitment to serve the Algerian community.
Mr. Sabri BOUKADOUM, Permanent Representative of Algeria to the UN and Ms. Sabria BOUKADOUM Consul General of Algeria in New York were as well recognized by the President of the Brooklyn Borough for their efforts to establish friendship relations between Algerian and American communities. The Algerian M. Omar BOUCHAAR was also distinguished as a good Brooklynite who perfectly represented the Algerian community and effectively contributed to the prosperity of the Brooklyn Borough. Crowned with a resounding success, these information days about Algeria will pave the way for future initiatives to foster ties of friendship and cooperation between Algeria and the United States.
Sincere gratitude goes to our sponsors and participants who greatly contributed to the success of this event. Special thanks is also extended to our guests, visitors – in particular our community members who came all the way from far states – the organizing committee, volunteers, artists, media and social networks, young Algerian American Chorale and to everyone who was involved in putting together this exciting event.
