Covid-19: Algeria reports 298 new cases, 303 recoveries and 8 deaths in last 24 hours

ALGIERS- A total of 298 new confirmed Covid-19 cases, 303 recoveries and eight deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours in Algeria, said Monday, in Algiers, the spokesman of the scientific committee for monitoring the progress of coronavirus pandemic Djamel Fourar.

The total number of confirmed cases has reached 13,571, i.e. 31 cases for 100,000 inhabitants, that of fatalities 905 while the number of recovered patients has reached 9,674, said Fourar in a daily press briefing devoted to the progress of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The people aged 60 and over represent 75% of the death cases, he said. Thirty three provinces recorded rates below the national rate while 7 others haven’t recorded any new positive cases in the last 24 hours.

A total of 22 provinces recorded between 1 and 5 cases while 19 others reported more than six cases each, according to him. Dr. Fourar added that 48 patients are currently under intensive care.
