Congratulations! Our compatriot Ms. Leila Hamroun-Yazid honored by the Society of Foreign Consuls (SOFC)

The Consulate General of Algeria in New York is pleased to inform that our compatriot Ms. Leila Hamroun-Yazid was honored by the Society of Foreign Consuls (SOFC) during a commemorative ceremony of the International Women’s Day, held on March 14, 2019. Shewas awarded the SOFC Certificate of Recognition in tribute of the valuable contributions and outstanding achievements she has made in ecological and sustainable architecture

This event was attended by the Minister of National Solidarity, the  Family and the Status of Women, Mrs. Ghania Eddalia. It gathered the diplomatic and consular corps, the Consulate General team as well as members of our community.

Leila Hamroun-Yazid, is the founder of “Past Forward Architecture”, a practice aimed to promote preservation strategies on heritage buildings and sites. Her career is uprooted in international portfolio of sustainable projects that respect the integrity, character and authenticity of a built environment.

Our distinguished honoree is fully dedicated in matters relating to our national community in the US. As a Board member of the Algerian American Foundation for Culture, Education, Science and Technology (AAF), she has been involved in developing the AAF Summer University– a one-week seminar held in Algeria bringing together international experts, local doctoral students and practicing professionals.
