Election of Dr.Noureddine Melikechi

Congratulations to our compatriot and eminent atomic physicist at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Professor Noureddine Melikechi, on his election as a Fellow of the prestigious non-profit organization “the American Physical Society” (APS), earlier this week.

This distinguished recognition is a testament to the outstanding achievements and contributions Dr. Melikechi has made in field of physics, including his pioneering and revolutionary research for the development of sensitive optical techniques for the early detection of cancers.Besides,he is the recipient of several honorary distinctions such as his nomination as “Ambassador to Mars” in 2012,in his capacity as a member of the “Mars Science Laboratory ChemCam”, which leads the NASA’s largest exploration missions of Planet Mars, as well as his nomination as member of the American Optics Society in 2017(https://www.uml.edu/Sciences/Dean/Melikechi-Noureddine.aspx )

It is worth noting that Dr. Melikechi is wholly devoted to serving his home country abroad. He was the President and one of the founding members of the Algerian-American Foundation for Culture, Education, Science and Technologies (AAF-CEST), which works towards enhancing the bonds of friendship and cooperation between our country and the United States on a cultural, educational and scientific level and beyond.
