Confirmed coronavirus case in Algeria: President Tebboune urges extreme vigilance

ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune has instructed the government and the country’s health authorities to be “extremely vigilant” after the confirmation of a coronavirus case in Algeria, calling for a wide awareness campaign to protect public health.

“I ordered the government and the country’s health authorities to be extremely vigilant after an Italian national was tested positive for the new coronavirus and placed in containment,” President Tebboune posted on his Facebook account.

The head of State urged the concerned sectors to launch a wide awareness campaign mobilizing all communication means to preserve public health. The ministry of health announced Tuesday evening that an Italian national, among two suspects, has tested positive for the new coronavirus (Covid-19) in Algeria.
