The 20th of August commemorates the major coordinated attacks conducted by the National Liberation Army on the North of the Constantine Region in 1955, and the Soumam Congress that took place in 1956 in Bejaia region where the leaders of the National Liberation Front gathered and defined the strategy that led to the independence of Algeria in 1962.
