Celebration of Youm El-Ilm

In celebration of Youm El-Ilm (Day of Knowledge and Science), the Consulate General jointly with the Algerian American Scientists Association organized on April 21st, 2018 a science fair competition and success stories presentation event at the United Nations International School. The event was opened by Ms. Sabria BOUKADOUM, Consul General, and Dr.Taha MERGHOUB President of the AASA. Among the key speakers who presented their own experiences to inspire our young generation:

Mr. Sabri BOUKADOUM, Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations.
Mr. Adnane MEZIANE, Executive Director at UBS Investment Bank.
Ms. Houda AMRI, Clinical Integrative Nutritionist at Kaplan Center for Integrative Medicie, Mc Lean Virginia.
Mr. Slimane BELKACEM, Doctoral Research Assistant /Ed.D.Student.Sam Houston State University.
Ms. Rahmouna Rouni, President of MAHF.

Algerian American high school students and pre-high school pupils participated in the science fair competition. Their projects were evaluated by a board of judges and the first three winners in both categories were awarded financial prices to keep them encouraged and motivated.

The event was an opportunity to present members of the Algerian American Choir who performed the National Anthem ‘Kassaman’ and other patriotic songs alternately with the performances of other music talented students like Hajer MERARDA, Anas BRAKTIA and Maria BOUZID.

During this ceremony, Consul General Sabria BOUKADOUM was pleased to award the Algerian American Scientists Association the 2018 Best Association Award. This award was established in 2017 to recognize and honor the efforts and commitment of Algerian American Associations to serve the Algerian community and foster cooperation between Algeria and the United States.
