CELEBRATE THE 62nd ANNIVERSARY OF ALGERIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY

A Series of Festivities Honoring Our Heritage and Community

 

The Consulate General of Algeria in New York is delighted to invite our Algerian community to join us in celebrating the 62nd anniversary of Algerian Independence Day, corresponding to July 5th, 1962. We have planned a series of events to commemorate this historic occasion and to celebrate our rich cultural heritage together.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

JUNE 22: BBQ AND EID EL ADHA CELEBRATION

  • Time: 12:00 PM
  • Location: Wolfe’s Pond Park, 420 Cornelia Ave, Staten Island, NY 10312
  • Details:
    • Join us for a festive BBQ as we celebrate Eid El Adha with our community. Enjoy traditional Algerian dishes, music, and camaraderie.
    • Participate in a friendly Algerian homemade culinary challenge.
  • RSVP: This event is free and open to the Algerian community, with warmly welcomed food contributions.

JULY 3: HONORS AND CULTURAL CELEBRATION

  • Time: 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
  • Location: The Prince George Ballroom, 15 E 27th St, New York, NY 10016
  • Details:
    • Honoring the top 10 Algerian Bachelor’s Graduates.
    • Awarding the winning family of the Algerian homemade culinary challenge.
    • A vibrant concert by “Ahl el Fen” a renowned cultural association from Algeria specializing in performing arts.
    • Enjoy a variety of traditional Algerian foods served throughout the event.
  • How to Participate: 2024 bachelor’s graduates of Algerian descent from accredited U.S. colleges should submit their academic transcripts, a brief statement of achievements, and contact information (phone, email, address) by July 1st, 2024. Criteria include academic excellence, extracurricular involvement, community service, and leadership.
